The highest point of the trek is Kalapathar, as well as one of the most popular high viewpoints.

Everest Base Camp, Chola, and Renjola Passes’ adventure lead you to delightful moments with once in a lifetime experience. The trek follows the main scenic trails, and then towards on off the beaten path. Where walks divert around the far-hidden corners of Khumbu Valley, enclosed by towering giant snow peaks.

The first part of the journey on Everest base camp with Chola and Renjola pass adventure. Following the popular main trail from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, and then heading towards higher terrains. Reaching Everest Base Camp, is the first highlight of the adventure, standing beneath the staggering peaks of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The base camp is situated amidst rocky moraines of ice, snow, and glaciers with close views of the massif Khumbu Icefall.

The adventure then takes you to the highest point on top of Kalapathar Hill and rewards you with a stunning mountain panorama. Overlooking Mt. Everest and Mt. Pumori at a close distance within a stone’s throw distance. On completing the first part of the journey, then towards Chola Pass leaving the eastern side of Khumbu Valley.

A steep strenuous climb reaches you on top of Chola Pass encircled by an array of snow-clad peaks. Facing views of Cholatse Peak nearby with Lobuche East and West includes Nirekha Peak and as far towards Mt. Cho-Oyu. After crossing the first high pass, a long descent reaches you to scenic Gokyo, the valley of glacial lakes. One of the most spectacular countries to enjoy and explore its beautiful surroundings with close looks of Mt. Cho-Oyu.

At Gokyo, have time for a spare day for a hike to Gokyo-Ri offers grand views of the world’s four tallest peaks. Namely, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Makalu with Mt. Cho-Oyu towards the north include a series of snow peaks. The other exciting walk, while spending time in Gokyo is hiking to the 5th and 6th lakes. Located close to the world’s 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu, the hike of more than 5-6 hours both ways from Gokyo. After a pleasant and wonderful time at Gokyo, adventures continue heading southwest towards Thame village.

From Gokyo walk towards Renjo La Pass, the last and second pass of the adventure, a steep climb to reach you on top. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of surroundings dramatic landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and snow-capped peaks. Includes views of Gokyo Valley and the lakes with Ngozumpa the longest Himalayan glacier in Nepal and around the Himalayas.

Which is about 36 km. / 22 miles in length, the glacial source that feeds the Dudh Koshi River. From the top of Renjola passes, a long descent to Thame a sleepy and quaint farm village. Situated west of Khumbu and Namche Bazaar, slowly the walk follows southeast past Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Where our trek completes, and then we take a swift scenic flight back to Kathmandu. On landing at Kathmandu, and Nepal International Airport, the Vertex Holiday staff and guide will receive you for the short drive to your hotels.

The hotel is located in the hub of Kathmandu, On arrival, check into your lovely rooms. Then meet with other members of the trek for briefing on Everest Base Camp, Cho-La and Renjo-La passes adventure. After collecting all the useful information and trek details, evening a group welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepal Restaurant and an introduction to Nepali foods and cultures.

An early morning start for the flight to Lukla, an exciting drive before dawn to reach Manthali Airport. Located in Ramechap district, southeast of Kathmandu approx. 150 km distance of more than 4 hours’ drive. The overland journey heads east toward the old town of Dhulikhel, and then heads towards the newly built
BP highway. The drive After some hours reached Manthali Town’s small airport for the flight to Lukla. After checking in, board a small aircraft, facing stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. As the short flight lands on the runways of Lukla Tenzing
& Hillary Airport.

Have a refreshing break in Lukla, then start the pleasant walk down to follow the Dudh Koshi River. The walk continues past several villages to reach Phakding for an overnight halt, located on a gorge next to Dudh Koshi River.

From Phakding today’s walk takes you famous Namche Bazaar, which is quite a long day walk. Due to an increase in height of 3,440 m, about 5 hours or more with a lunch stop. At Jorsalle the last village before Namche Bazaar, after walking through Monjo village, and entering Sagarmatha National Park entrance.

After the park cross a bridge to Jorsalle for a lunch break, an afternoon walk on a river bed. Amidst the cool shade of tall rhododendrons, pines, and fir forest, the trail leads to the last high bridge. The undulating winding ups to reach Namche Bazaar is an exciting place for the overnight stop. Rest of the afternoon relax and explore Namche Bazaar’s main streets, steeped with many shops, and stores.

Includes great classy restaurants and bakeries with fancy hotels and lodges, as well as banks and ATM facilities.

After a pleasant stop in Namche Bazaar, morning begins heading towards higher areas, following the scenic wide trail. Overlooking grand views of Mt. Everest, beautiful peak Ama Dablam, as walk heads down to Imjatse River for a lunch stop.

Afternoon climb for a few hours, a nice uphill walk within dense woods to reach the picturesque location at Tengboche. A scenic spot with a colorful impressive monastery, this lovely place is encircled by an array of snow peaks.

One of the best spots for an overnight halt in the comfort of a nice lodge.
As well as to enjoy a tour of the monastery interior of cultural and religious interest.

In the midst of stunning panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse with majestic Ama Dablam at close range.

Morning on leaving Tengboche and the Monastery, head downhill to a river and after crossing a bridge. The trail follows up to Pangboche, the last village before Everest base camp. The other places Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep until Thame villages are all temporary settlements with lodges for trekkers.

The walk after Pangboche onwards to Dingboche, where tree lines decline for short juniper bushes. The trail leads to higher windswept terrains with the last hour’s climb to reach Dingboche. A rest day for acclimatization before heading towards Everest base camp and high Cho-La Pass. Morning at Dingboche with scenic surroundings, enjoy a few hour’s climb up Nakarjung hilltop for stunning views. The high hill at approx. 5,000 m, offers close views of Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.

Includes stunning look of Island Peak, as far towards Mt. Makalu in the east direction. Rest of the afternoon relax in the harmony of the glorious mountain scenery that surrounds the Imjatse Valley.

Start the morning walk with a short steep up, reaching the high ridge above Dingboche settlement and Imjatse Valley. From the top, a slow and gradual uphill walk to Thukla for a lunch break, where the route of Pheriche and Dingboche joins.

After lunch a steep haul to the top of Thukla Ridge, and then the walk on the pleasant path. Enjoy the views of Mt. Pumori, Nuptse, and Lobuche peaks, then the day walk completes reaching Lobuche for an overnight halt. Located on the west end of a wide valley, having several good lodges with grand views of Nuptse Peak.

From Lobuche, the adventure leads to Everest Base Camp, rising early for a long day. After having a good breakfast, the route heads north with a short steep climb over a moraine of rocks and ice above the Khumbu glacier.

A short descent reaches Gorakshep, a nice small settlement with several nice lodges, located on a sandy glacial valley. At the bottom of the towering lofty peak of Pumori and the famous view-point hill
of Kalapathar. Gorakshep was the early Everest Base Camp till 1970 before it shifted further east, as the glaciers receded. After a short rest continue to walk to Everest base camp, following a rocky path and then crossing icy streams.

After hours of good exciting scenic walks reach the foot of towering Mt. Everest, at base camp. Stand beneath the giant peaks of Nuptse and Lhotse, the view of Everest is hidden by Lhotse and Nuptse peaks. However, it is an exciting and dramatic spot to enjoy and experience the arctic-like landscapes. Covered with rocky moraine of rocks, ice, and snow close to massif Khumbu
Ice falls, above the base camp. After a wonderful moment back to Gorakshep for overnight halt.

An early morning starts for a big climb on top of Kalapathar’s high rocky ridge, a Few hour’s steep up. Every hard effort rewards you with stunning views of the Snow Mountain range with Mt. Everest. Stand in front of a big dome-shaped Mt.

Pumori with majestic Mt. Everest at close distance. After a mesmerizing scenery, back to Gorakshep for breakfast, and continue the adventure on the easy downhill to Lobuche. After a refreshing break, heading further down and then the route diverts from the main trail. On reaching an isolated small settlement at Dzongla for an overnight stop. Situated at the base of Cho-La Pass close to Cholatse peaks and its glacial pond.

Rising early before break of dawn, for steep climb towards a rocky slopes to reach on top of Cho-La pass. The walk leads on near level path, and then starts the big climb for some hours to reach Cho-La Pass. The pass is marked with rock cairns and prayer flags, close to Cholatse peak. After a refreshing stop enjoy the grand panorama of surrounding snow-capped peaks. Then heading downhill to the base of Cho-La at Thagnak for overnight stop. A small settlement with few simple lodges, beneath the Ngozumpa glacier en route scenic Gokyo, the valley of glacial lakes.

After crossing the first pass of the adventure, morning a good walk on gradual path to reach Gokyo. Morning a short day walk for lunch and overnight stop at scenic Gokyo. The walk follows on a level path reaching across the first and second lakes, and then finally reaching Gokyo. Right above the third main lakes, as well on our route to Renjo-La Pass and beyond to Thame. At Gokyo check into a nice lovely lodge facing views of lake and Mt. Cho-Oyu. Rest of the day enjoy relaxing moments along with stunning mountain scenery and the lakes.

Another great opportunity for a hike to Gokyo-Ri is a stunning sunrise over the chain of Himalayan peaks. Includes views of the world’s four highest peaks Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu with Mt. Cho-Oyu. As well as an array of peaks that surround the top of Gokyo-Ri, after a steep morning climb of a few hours.

Enjoy the panorama of Gokyo Valley and the lakes with the Ngozumpa glacier down below from where you stand. Return back to the lodge at Gokyo for breakfast and lunch, and afternoon at leisure to explore scenic Gokyo valley.

Other options besides the climb of Gokyo-Ri, can enjoy a long day hike of 5 to 6 hours. To reach the 5th and 6th Lakes close to the base of the world’s 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu. Facing the North and South Face of Mt. Everest with Gyachung Kang.

The highest above 7,000 m peaks in Nepal at 7,952 m, after a good long hike return to Gokyo for overnight.

After a wonderful time at Gokyo, start the morning early morning after a good breakfast to cross Renjo-la pass. The walk follows across the third lake, and then the climb follows on a rocky path for a few hours; to the top of Renjo-La.

From the last-second high pass of the adventure, enjoy the spectacular views of Everest with Makalu and Cho-Oyu. Includes a series of peaks that surround the pass, after a successful climb over the last final Renjo-La Pass. A long descent to The overnight stop in a small settlement at Lungden provides simple accommodation and good meals.

From Lungden walk heads to long downhill past farm settlements of Marlung, then crossing a bridge over Bhote Koshi River. After the bridge walk leads on gradual path to Thame, a nice quiet farm village with an old monastery.

Located on top of the windblown village, at Thame having rest for lunch, facing grand views of Kwangde and series of peaks.
After a pleasant lunch break at Thame, walk on gradual path with short down and ups reaching back into tree lines. As trail follows through Thamo a nice village, and downhill to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.

Morning from Namche Bazaar a long descent to Dudh-Koshi River and then a short up to Sagarmatha National Park. Walk leads past Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit post, and then reach a lovely village at Monjo for an overnight halt. Slowly the adventure comes to an end, Enjoy the last day’s walks to Lukla following on a nice pleasant trail. Heading past Phakding and then with a final climb to Lukla by lunchtime as well as for last night’s dinner. After an exciting and

Essential Information - EBC Trek with Chola and Renjola Pass

Best Seasons for Everest Base Camp with Chola and Renjola Passes Adventure:

The best time starts from spring, March to May, and autumn/fall begins from September to November. Spring season, when most days are clear and warm with full of sunshine, and days are longer due to enough sunlight hours. During spring times chances of snowfall sometimes, with cold mornings and nights, as well as during late afternoon and in shades. Higher elevation above 3,000 m, strong UV rays, needs sun protection. Autumn / fall mild climate, most days with full of sunshine, but shorter days due to limited sunlight hours. Cold morning and night time, as well as late afternoon with the additional wind-chill factor.

Can expect snowfall during the treks around higher altitudes and on crossing Chola and Renjola passes. Interested trekkers can also enjoy the winter time of December to February when most days are clear and sunny. But with shorter days the sunlight hours are limited rise late and set by late afternoon. Freezing temperatures in the morning, late afternoon, and nighttime with additional wind chill factors in the afternoon. 01: Namche Bazaar:

Namche Bazaar is an exciting and interesting place to enjoy exploring its beautiful surrounding viewpoints. A moderate-sized prosperous town or a large village is regarded as the capital and main hub of Khumbu villagers. As well as important for local Sherpa to get their daily household commodities, from the Saturday Market; held once a week. Hence the name tagged as Namche Bazaar for its weekly colorful and busy Saturday Market. Besides, many good lodges, resorts, hotels, and fancy restaurants with well-stocked shops and stores. Namche Bazaar with banks and ATM facilities etc.

An important place for trekkers and mountaineers as it is located at a perfect height; of 3,440 m / 11, 286 feet. Makes an ideal elevation for trekkers to spend extra overnights for acclimatization, and taking short hikes to its viewpoints. The closest spot for glorious views surrounding high snow peaks is above Namche Bazaar close to Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters.

The viewpoint stands on the premises of Park Interesting Museum, enjoy a short hike uphill of less than an hour. The ridge top offers stunning views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse with the majestic looks of Ama Dablam. Includes Kangtenga, Tharmasarku, and Kongde range of peaks with sacred mountain Khumbila and as far towards Kusum-Kanguru in the east.

The other scenic viewpoint is further high above Syangboche at Everest View- Hotel, the first luxurious hotel in the Khumbu region.
From Namche Bazaar an hour more climb to the ridge of Syangboche with an old small airstrip. From here onwards gradually up to the top ridge, where Everest View Hotel is located. At about 3,962 m /13,000 feet amidst lovely woods of pine, firs, and Rhododendron trees. From here enjoy the grand views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse with Ama Dablam.

As you enjoy refreshing hot drinks and snacks, after a scenic morning hike downhill to Namche Bazaar. Energetic people can visit nearby Khumjung and Khunde villages, down below from Everest View Hotel.

02: Nakarjung/Nagkartshang Viewpoint Hill above Dingboche & Imjatse Valley:

Nakarjung, the original name is Nagkartshang, located at the height of 4,800 m or 15, 748 feet high. Stands above Dingboche settlement and Imjatse Valley, a popular high ridge and a viewpoint for trekkers; spending an extra acclimatization day at Dingboche. An hour or more climb with a steep up for less than an hour to the first ridge. The ridge is adorned with Buddhist prayer monuments of Stupas and prayer flags, where the route to Lobuche and Nakarjung separates.

After a nice short rest with attractive views of Imjatse Valley and surrounding giant peaks. Continue uphill walk on steep slopes with bushes of juniper and prickly Burberry shrubs to reach on top of Nakarjung. An exciting high ridge top for a fabulous panorama of towering snow-capped mountains, facing the towering North Face of Ama Dablam. Extends to Taboche and Cholatse with Lobuche peaks towards the west, and includes views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Island Peak, and Mt. Makalu.

Close to the top ridge and viewpoint, one can witness a small shade or a shelter, which is a hermitage. Where Buddhist monks and priests, spend months on meditation at this holy spot and hermitage.

03: Everest Base Camp:

Everest Base Camp, the dream adventure destination for millions of world Travelers, is the base of the world’s highest peak of Mt. Everest. The Everest Base Camp at 5,364 m / 17, 598 feet high, enclosed by the towering peaks of Nuptse and Lhotse.

Which is about 65 km / 41 miles, one way from the starting point at Lukla. The base camp is a remorseless field of rocky moraine of ice and glaciers at a close distance; from the massif Khumbu Ice Falls.

Everest Base Camp is also the northern base of Mt. Lhotse, the world’s 4th highest Peak. Everest Base Camp is more active during mountaineering expeditions time of the spring season, from March to May. Where one can observe many camps of various nations on their way to the summit of Mt. Everest. However, the views of Mt. Everest are obstructed by Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Nuptse, only the tip of Everest is seen from the base camp.

04: Kalapathar View Point:

Kalapathar View Point, a rocky ridge top one of the most popular spots for the alluring scenery of surrounding giant peaks. Located close in front of Mt. Pumori 7,161 / 23,494 feet, Kalapathar hill stands a mere distance from Mt. Everest.

Which is about 8 km west of Mt. Everest, the closest viewpoint for Mt. Everest from Kalapathar View Point Hill. Most trekkers climb to the top of Kalapathar, especially in the early morning from the small settlement of Gorakshep.

From Gorakshep takes about 2 hours or more with a steep up to reach on top of rocky black rock. The name Kalapathar is for a black rocky hilltop, there are two tops. The lower is at 5,545 m or 5,550 m / 18,192 / 8,209 feet. But the main top is at 5,643 m / 18,514 feet, where all trekkers aim for this high viewpoint.

As one of the major highlights of the adventure around Khumbu and Everest base Camp Trekking. From the top of Kalapathar View Point, enjoy the stunning close views of Mt. Everest with the surrounding high peaks of Nuptse, Pumori, and Lingtrin as far as Changtse on the Tibet side, across the border.

05: Chola or Tsho-La Pass:

Cho-La is the short pronunciation for Tsho-La the exact name of the pass, which means a glacial pond. In Sherpa language similar to Tibetan, a high pass at the height of 5,420 meters or 17, 782 feet. Which forms the boundary between the east of Khumbu Valley and with scenic Gokyo Valley of the lakes. Where one can traverse from both sides of the valley from Gokyo at Thagnak to the west.

As well as from the small settlement of Dzongla to the east close en route to Everest Base Camp. The pass can be quite challenging in snow conditions, the top is marked with rock cairns and prayer flags. From the top of Chola pass the sweeping Panorama of Mid-East Himalayan peaks, with a close view of Cholatse peaks. Includes Lobuche East and West peaks with Nirekha as far towards
Mt. Cho-Oyu in the north-west direction. The descent is quite steep to both ends of the pass either to Thagnak or towards Dzongla.

06: Gokyo Valley.

Gokyo Valley, located North above the Khumbu areas centrally located from the high passes of Renjola and Chola. Gokyo is a valley of glacial lakes with close views of the world’s 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu. Which rises at 8,201 m / 26, 906 feet between the border of Nepal and Tibet / China. In the early days before the influx of trekkers, it was a wild country for Yak grazing pasture.

07: Gokyo-Ri View Point Hill Top:

The  EBC Trek with Chola & Renjola pass, Gokyo Valley is a perfect spot for a rest day to explore its picturesque surroundings to the 5th and 6th lakes. Whether starting from Thame or east of Khumbu Valley, one has to reach Gokyo Valley before or after crossing Renjola Pass.

Renjola Pass, located south of Gokyo’s 3rd main lake and close to Gokyo-Ri, is almost the same height. Crossing Renjola pass, especially from Gokyo leads to a steep climb for some hours until the top is reached.

After an early morning adventurous trek, the top of Renjola Pass viewpoint offers incredible views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, and Ama Dablam.
