Halesi and Maratika Caves are important pilgrimage sites and holiest spots for the Hindu and Buddhist followers. The temple of Halesi is also regarded as the “Pashupatinath” of eastern Nepal. The Halesi sacred place is situated at 945 m / 3,100 feet to 1,443 m or 4,734 feet high. Which is approx. 185 km south of high Khumbu and Mt. Everest.

Halesi Temple & Maratika Cave, apart from their religious aspect. It is also a great homage site. Hindu and Buddhist devotees from India, Bhutan, Tibet, Japan, and the USA also visit the Halesi and Maratika Caves. This religious area is a natural wonder with four large and several smaller caves. The three main caves represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva. Buddhists call these caves Maratika, the exact spot where Saint and Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambahava. The founder of Tibetan Buddhism of Nyingma, also known as the Red Hat sect. He and his wife, Mandarava, got liberated from the cycle of life and attained Nirvana.

A free day in Kathmandu for a sightseeing tour around Nepal’s world heritage sites. Tour of Old Durbar (palace) Square, and the ancient stupa of Swyambhunath and Bouddhanath Stupas. After the tour, return to the hotel, prepare for the next day, for and a long drive to Halesi around the Khotang district.

Have an early breakfast and enjoy the long, exciting overland journey in a 4WD Jeep or similar vehicle. The drive takes about 7 to 8 hours to the Halesi Temple near Diktel Bazar. Covering a distance of about 222 km or 138 miles, with lunch en route. The drive heads east towards Dhulikhel, an old Newar Town, and then the drive leads south following the B.P. Highway. The journey follows through lovely farm villages and towns with superb scenery of Nepal’s beautiful landscape terrains. After an interesting drive, reach Halesi on time for a late refreshment and dinner. Then check into the best available lodge for a pleasant overnight, after a long scenic drive.

In the morning, visit the Halesi Mahadev temple, the Maratika cave, and many more places. The pilgrims and devotees of Hindu and Buddhist have time for worship and offerings. After getting blessed by the priest of both religions with the holy spirits of Halesi Mahadev and Guru Rinpoche.

Enjoy a good breakfast, then board a vehicle for an interesting drive back to Kathmandu. The drive follows the same scenic routes past farm lands, villages, and towns.

On the drives with lunch stops in a nice village or town, as time permits. Then the journey continues for another 4-5 hours to Kathmandu, after an interesting overland journey.

On reaching Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel on time for late refreshment and last dinner in Kathmandu.

Essential Information - Halesi Tour package from Kathmandu

Travelers and pilgrims can participate Halesi Toiur in all seasons. It is not good to visit during the wet monsoon from mid-June to August, the summer season. The best seasons are spring, autumn/fall, and winter. Spring begins from March to May, and autumn starts from September and ends in November. Winter starts from December to February.

Halesi Tour Springtime, with longer sunshine hours, is the best season for all types of outdoor activities. Expect light rain sometimes while visiting Halesi Maratika Cave. During autumn, cooler mornings and evenings, including nighttime, but with a clear, starry sky.

Winter, from December to February, is also the best time to visit Halesi and Maratika Cave. Despite the cold winter months, most days are fine, with a crystal-clear blue sky. Visitors can enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes and snow-capped mountains.

Halesi Tour In winter, cold mornings, late afternoon, and nighttime with a minimum of +5 C to a maximum of 15-20° Celsius. Sunrises from 6 a.m. and sets by 5 p.m. It is one of the pleasant times to enjoy outdoor activities.
