Mt. Manaslu is listed as the world’s 8th highest mountain with a series of satellite peaks such as Bauddha and Himal Chuli peaks of above 7,000 m high, the main peak of Manaslu range is 8,163 m and 26, 781 feet, located at Nepal Far North Mid-West Himalaya, on Old Himalaya Trans Himalaya Salt Trade and Caravan Route Trails.

At present motorable has extended till Machha-Khola beyond Arughat and Soti Khola, saving two days of trekking duration, and after crossing the high Larke-La pass, on entering the Manang area, the motorable road meets at Dharapani village at the end of the trek. Where most people take a drive back to Kathmandu or stay overnight at Bhesisar town before heading to Kathmandu.
But with MAD trekking in Nepal driving from Tiliche to Manang, and then back on walking trails till the end of the trek.

As per the season, normally morning and late afternoon till night time it gets much cold, including in shady places away from sun-lights.
During high trekking season from March to May, the weather is fine and clear with sunny days, maximum temperatures of + 20 to + 25 degrees Celsius, and minimum of – 5 to – 10 degrees Celsius, especially from Sama village to Larke-La Pass. Where the wind-chill factor adds more cold.

In autumn/fall which is one of the best and high seasons, + 16 to + 20 degrees Celsius, a minimum of – 10 to – 15 degrees Celsius, especially from Sama and Samdo village till Dharapani is reached with the coldest wind-chill factor on crossing Larke-La Pass. Including Tilicho Lake and the base of Mesokanto-La, as well as around the Dhaulagiri area. However, walking keeps you warm as well inside the cozy lodge and in tented camps, after ending a nice scenic trek of the day.

During the high season, there are more trekkers during spring and autumn, due to the restricted trekking zone, where trekkers must obtain special permits to enter the high Manaslu valley. Where visitors need to pay a special extra fee that makes less number trekkers than other normal mainstream trekking destinations of Nepal Himalaya.
At present it is getting more popular and the number of trekkers has increased over the years.

Normally, all trekkers are aware of traveling around Asian and developing countries, the only major problem trekkers can find is altitude sickness or AMS
(Acute Mountain Sickness).
However, some trekkers can get sick with diarrhea, and from high altitude walks for normal symptoms rest for a few days till the victim recovers and is able to continue walking.
But in severe and serious situations, the only way to fast and immediate emergency rescue is by helicopter service, to reach the nearest hospital and medical care. In this emergency case where victims have to borne all the expenses to be claimed from their health and medical insurance.

On this trek from the start to the end of the walks stay in the mountain village’s nice and simple lodge, but from Samdo the last village around Gorkha district and Manaslu valley. After Samdo is just a temporary settlement at Dharmasala or Larke Phedi, with few lodges serving and catering to the needs of travelers.
On crossing Larke-La pass then came across the nice village of Dharapani, in between are just seasonal settlements with lodges for trekkers.
After Manang to Tilicho, there are no villages till Jomsom Town, from Jomsom villages human settlements do not exist till the end of trekking at Bagar and Naura as well as Kibang farm villages.

This tough and long adventure requires expert guides and porters depending upon a number of people and the size of a group. Normally for two people a guide and porter to accompany, for more than 4-6 persons one head guide, and an assistant guide with 2-3 porters to carry the baggage. The number of guides and porters increases with more than 8-10 trekkers and so on.

The walking trail is well maintained by each village community, the only hard section is going steep uphill for some hours for a few days, on reaching Manaslu Valley from Lo-Gaon onwards are pleasant and near-level path, with few short ups and downs, more or less walking on the gradual winding trail.
But on the day of crossing high Larke-La pass, where path leads to a steep climb for 2-3 hours till you reach on top of Larke-La pass at 5,106 m and 16,752 feet high.
From the pass, a long descent to an overnight stop at Bhimphedi, and then a gradual downhill with a few short climbs to end the trek at Dharapani village within Manang area and then taking a drive back to Kathmandu. The toughest walk is around Dhaulagiri areas walking for a few days on glaciers and rocky moraines.

One of the most adventurous and exciting treks in all Himalayas, where the walk leads you from warm sub-tropical farmland to cooler hills covered in alpine forest.
As the trek progresses where vegetation fades, and the walk leads through glaciers and moraine for a few days.
It is not an overall difficult trek, but quite tough as per your physical fitness to challenge the climb over the high French pass at 5, 416 m and Dhampus pass at above5, 250 m high.

To make it easier and enjoyable take a slow pace, with enough short breaks to cope with the high altitude, the most difficult phase Around Dhaulagiri is if it snows, which makes the trek arduous to find the right track and much more difficult.
Rest is easy with ups and downhill walks to end the trek at beautiful Marpha village around the Lower Mustang area.

The nearest Medical facilities are at Baglung and Beni town, before the trek and after the walk at Jomsom headquarters town of Mustang.
The only problem one can get is altitude sickness or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Normally, trekkers are physically fit and the itinerary chosen has enough rest days to cope with acclimatization.
For instance, in case some get very sick and cannot continue the walk, head back to a lower altitude to reach Beni / Pokhara or Jomsom for a flight or drive back to Kathmandu.
For very sick person needs to be evacuated on a helicopter. In this emergency case where victims have to borne all the expenses to be claimed from their health and medical insurance.
