Mt. Manaslu Expeditions is an adventure around the hidden pockets of remote North Mid-West Himalayas. It is located within the historical Gorkha district amidst the Mansiri Himalayan range, close to the Annapurna Himalayas in the west. It is also near the massif Ganesh Himal towards the east.
The Manaslu Himal ranges with a group of high peaks. Namely Boudha Himal, Himal Chuli, and Ngadi Chuli with Sringi Himal, Langpo, and Saula peaks. Make up the massive Manaslu Himalayan ranges. It stands wholly within Nepal, south of scenic Manaslu Valley, and quite close to Manang and Lamjung districts.
The local native name for Manaslu is Kutang, of Tibetan origin language, which means a flourishing land. Refers to its wide scenic valley for growing and harvesting high-altitude crops and raising livestock. Mt. Manaslu the name comes from an ancient word Manas, the mind or soul of the holy spirits. Similar to the sacred Manasarover Lake in South-West Tibet near the holy Mt. Kailash. Before the arrival of foreign visitors, the areas of high Manaslu Valley were the vantage route for Trans Himalayan Trade. Where a caravan of mules, horses, and yaks laden with goods from both sides of Nepal and Tibet passed through.
Mt. Manaslu 8, 163 m/26,781 feet, ranks as the 8th highest peak within the 14th world tallest mountains. The first ascent of Mt. Manaslu was by the Japanese Expeditions. As well as was also supported by the Nepali guide Gyalzen Norbu Sherpa on May 09th, 1956. Since then, the Upper region of Manaslu and Mt. Manaslu remained forbidden for outside visitors.
When China annexed Tibet into the mainland around the 1950’s onwards. The borders, between the two countries of Nepal and Tibet-China are close to Manaslu Valley. But then it was opened in 1991 to the outside travelers to explore its hidden treasures of natural beauty.
The Upper Manaslu falls within a restricted area in Nepal where trekkers and climbers require a special permit. From the village of Jagat onwards to enter the high country of Manaslu, to control the mass flow of trekkers. As well as to save and protect its pristine environment, but over the years. Manaslu has become one of the most popular trekking destinations and for mountaineering expeditions.
Mt. Manaslu is termed as a killer mountain, which is quite wrong any high or smaller peaks can be dangerous. It depends upon the weather conditions, and the danger of avalanches, which can occur anytime around the Himalayan mountains. As well as the fitness of the climbers, including the logistic backups that support a successful and safe climb. Nevertheless, Mt. Manaslu at present, is one of the most popular mountains among the mountaineers after Mt. Everest. The climb of Mt. Manaslu has become the first phase and introduction on mountaineering, before heading for other higher peaks.
Mt. Manaslu Mountaineering Expeditions follows the same trail as the famous Manaslu Circuit Trekking routes. Heading higher from the lower warm farm country of Gorkha to reach higher alpine mid-hills to enter Manaslu Valley. The route to Mt. Manaslu Base Camp diverts from the main trail after Sama-Gaon heading towards absolute wilderness. A lovely scenic walk towards the glacial lake of Birendra Tal to reach the foot of Mt. Manaslu. The base camp is at a height of 4,400 m / 14, 435 feet. Located close to the serene and scenic Birendra Tal the lake fed from the glaciers of massif Mt. Manaslu. Normally the summit bid takes a minimum of two weeks to a maximum of three weeks from the base camp. Depending upon the plan and budget of the expedition as well as the mountaineering experiences of the climbing members.
After base camp, it requires four high camps to reach the top of Mt. Manaslu Summit. The Camp-I at 5,800 m/19,029 ft. Camp-II 6,400 m/ 20, 997 ft. Camp III at 6,800 m/22,310 ft. The last final Camp IV is above 7,400 m/24, 278 ft. then the final day for the summit as weather permits. The climb of 763 m/2,503 feet high to reach the summit of the world’s 8th highest Mt. Manaslu.
After the conquest of Mt. Manaslu, a safe descent to base camp, collecting all the garbage and camping gear. As well as taking care of the pristine environment as a responsible and eco-mountaineer. The return journey back on the main trail of Manaslu Circuit heading down towards lower warm sub-tropical farmland. To end the adventure at Jagat Village with an exciting drive to Kathmandu. After a rejoiceful adventure of great memorable experience on Mount Manaslu Expeditions with excellent services of Vertex Holiday.
